Move it!

When you think of people you look up to what comes to mind? Your parents? The emergency services person who helped you out of a mess? A literary character? No matter who it is and what age you remember them at everyone was always able to move quite well. People for ages have known that being able to move is an important part in keeping good health. That said, we all have someone we look up to and have at one point tried to emulate them.

Whether you’re trying to emulate a comic book character, a firefighter, or even raising a kid being able to move well will help you get what you need to done. Not only that but it has major health benefits as you get older such as reducing potential joint issues, reducing chronic disease risk, and living longer among many other things. So with that in mind it begs the question, ‘’how can I become more mobile?’’. Well let’s scroll down and find out shall we?

Being able to stay mobile and move well requires constant work and exercise. Flexibility training, resistance training, and aerobic training are but a few aspects to work on in becoming more mobile. Anyone who approaches it all at once might feel a bit overwhelmed especially if they haven’t been in a gym before, but when it’s all broken down it isn’t really all that bad. For flexibility training stretch out your muscles for at least 20-30 seconds per muscle group. Aerobic training needs can vary from person to person but try and shoot for 1 hour a week of cardio, break it down if you need to into smaller segments. As for the resistance training try and pick exercises that focus on more than one angle.

Here’s an example routine

Exercise

Sets

Reps

Rest

It’s a simple routine but it should give you an idea of what I’m trying to get at. These are exercises that get you to move from more than one angle and get you going.

While there is a lot more to health and fitness than the advice I just gave starting with simple advice such as this is enough to set someone on their way. Staying in shape doesn’t have to be difficult and can be a lot of fun, especially if you bring a partner to your workouts! If you are looking for something more specific don’t be afraid to ask questions. No one in the fitness industry got somewhere without asking questions and if you have anything specific you want to ask or want help achieving a specific goal, don’t be afraid to hire a personal trainer for a few sessions. We are always willing to help out with your health and fitness goals.

The guns, the cannons, the pythons, there are so many names for your arms when you work out. Everyone I know has enjoyed doing an arms workout at some point in time, it’s satisfying to see your arms grow and to feel stronger.

Fall is upon us and what better time to start to start getting outside for a run? It isn't too hot and it isn't too cold, yet no matter what time of year there are always good tips to adhere to. Outdoor runs can be a bit more challenging than running indoors on a treadmill.

The gluten free diet is one of the most popular diets out there right now. It's main purpose is to help treat people with celiacs disease (such as myself) and anyone else who may have an issue with gluten and it has become much bigger in the last 20 years.
